Over twenty-five years ago, with a deep passion for jewelry design, Shy Dayan founded Shy Creation. In the early years, Shy specialized in exquisite diamonds and gems, particularly fancy yellow diamonds. His dedication to craftsmanship established Shy Creation’s reputation for “impeccable quality, and hand-set, one-of-a-kind pieces.”
As the business evolved, Shy’s younger sister, Kathy Dayan, joined him and brought a fresh, contemporary influence. “She helped me reinvent our business by pairing our unmatched craftsmanship with her cool, fashion-forward, LA style,” he recalls. Together, the siblings co-designed the now-iconic Kate Collection, which has become Shy Creation’s most popular and fastest-selling line.
For Shy, the heart of the company lies in family collaboration. “I design all of our styles alongside my siblings—my brother, David, and my youngest sister, Kathy,” he notes. “Being able to collaborate with my siblings is the best part of my job.”
Family also extends beyond the creative studio. “I start every morning with prayer,” Shy says. “My sister (Kathy) also got me into morning meditation. I work with my family (my parents and siblings), and we have family lunch together every day.” He continues, “I also did a lot of grilling this summer—there’s nothing better than a perfectly grilled steak.”
Looking ahead, Shy is eager to share what’s next for the brand. “We have a lot of exciting projects and designs in the works, but I’m most looking forward to our upcoming men’s collection—the designs are very cool and it’s something new for us.”
