Only Natural Diamonds (OND), the consumer-facing, multi-channel digital platform powered by Natural Diamond Council, is delighted to launch its first-ever print magazine under Editor-in-Chief Sam Broekema.

The magazine comes as a natural next step and addition to its digital home on naturaldiamonds.com. This is the first of a bi-annual issue cadence covering both Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter.

Only Natural Diamonds

The inaugural Spring/Summer print issue features actress Gabrielle Union as its cover star. Ms. Union shares insight into her top diamond moments, career as an actress, her family, and where she hopes to see Hollywood in the years to come in the inside cover story penned by Christine Whitney.

“The decision to move into print was a collaborative one. It is the culmination of how far we have come editorially in such a short period,” shares Sam Broekema. “The magazine is a love letter to natural diamonds. We have the opportunity to share them with the world in all of their sparkling glory in a legacy medium. From glamorous shoots to real-life accounts of how natural diamonds affect the livelihood of 10 million people globally, the magazine has something for everyone.”

The magazine leverages OND’s editorial chops featuring diamond jewelry trends naturally fitting within the fashion zeitgeist. Stand-out editorials include “Second Skin Bangles,” shot by Jennifer Livingston, and a story shot by Mark Lim, which is a fun take on Akimbo Engagement Rings, a term coined to refer to the center diamond set askew. Actress Keirnan Shipka has an inside feature shot by Alexander Saladrigas channeling a noir-era Hollywood starlet decorated by the most delicate natural diamonds.

Only Natural Diamonds serves as the premiere destination for diamond inspiration and diamond stories. “In only three years as the NDC, our Only Natural Diamonds consumer-facing digital editorial and advertising platform, the hub of which is naturaldiamonds.com, succeeds in engaging the next-generation luxury customer. The response to our impact led us to the progression of tangibly presenting the incredible and integrous world of natural diamonds with a biannual print publication,” shares Kristina Buckley Kayel, NDC’s Managing Director and CMO.

“Being not-for-profit and brand agnostic has enabled us to be limitless in capturing the dynamism of this industry, from designers to rangers in Botswana! Having installed our own in-house editorial and content production team under Sam Broekema’s leadership over the last year, coupled with diamond demand still strong in the U.S. and growing abroad, the timing to do so now was just right.”

The magazine’s cover was shot in Malibu by Shaniqwa Jarvis and styled by Thomas Christos Kikis. Additional contents feature a look into the history of engagement rings, designers currently impacting the field, including NDC’s 2023 class of emerging designers, and following NDC’s Global Ambassador, Lily James, to Botswana, where she visited the Karowe mine and experienced the diamond community there firsthand.

The magazine debuted during Couture in Las Vegas and has global distribution on newsstands in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Paris.
