The American Gem Society is seeking a dedicated and skilled Systems Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will install, modify, and make minor repairs/upkeep to computer hardware and software systems, network, and server management, and provide technical advice and support to system users.
Essential Functions
- Provide support to monitor, install, and perform maintenance on peripherals and software as directed
- Provide hardware and software problem resolution as directed
- Proactively manage helpdesk tickets to ensure timely resolution of issues in full adherence with service level agreement (SLA) requirements
- Seek guidance from supervisor on complex issues as needed
- Create and maintain clear and concise documentation for troubleshooting procedures and user guides
- Identify and replicate problems, and suggest solutions as directed
- Provide networking support/troubleshooting and general support
- Manage the overall planning, direction, coordination, execution, control, and completion of ssigned projects
- Perform intermediate technical tasks on all platforms
- Assist in research and procurement of computer accessories and supplies as directed
- Maintain the confidential nature of matters pertaining to company records, policies, and members
- Manage data backups
- Update system security and stay current with new technologies and software releases
- Maintain inventory of IT equipment
- Ensure compliance with organization policies and industry standards

Competencies
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange, 365, VMware vSphere, networking and firewall configuration, IT support, server administration, and help desk tasks in a multi-server environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to translate complex technical information into understandable terms for non-technical individuals
- Excellent customer service and people skills
- Demonstrates strong foundational knowledge and hands-on expertise in relevant technologies and technical programs
- Ability to diagnose issues accurately, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions
Required Education and Experience
- Associate degree or higher in Computer Science/Technology or a related field preferred
- 2-3 years of recent relevant experience
- Certifications such as A+, Network+ or Security+ preferred
