AGS Way Scholarship

Build your foundation as an AGS professional

The AGS Way Course is the core credentialing course for the American Gem Society (AGS). It covers the history, mission, vision, and values of AGS membership, while helping learners develop the skills to effectively communicate and apply the AGS story.

In this course, you will explore: 

  • The rich history and impact of AGS
  • What it means to be an AGS member and titleholder
  • The AGS brand and how to market your membership
  • Grading and appraisal standards, standards for ethics, and cut grading
  • Preparation for the 2-Diamond Practical Exam
  • How to apply these concepts to better serve your customers.

Modules are completed sequentially, with knowledge checks and quizzes throughout. The course is self-paced and can typically be completed within three months.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time employee of an AGS Retail, Partner, or Emerging Designer member
  • Must have previously completed one of the following from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA):
    • Applied Jewelry Professional™ (AJP) Diploma and 5-Day Diamond Grading Lab Class or 5-Day Gem Identification Lab Class
    • Graduate Gemologist® (GG) diploma
