Myriam GumuchianThe American Gem Society congratulates Myriam Gumuchian, vice president and director of sales at Gumuchian, as the recipient of this year’s AGS Triple Zero Award!

Myriam Gumuchian, a native of Belgium with Armenian lineage, has traveled extensively through Europe and received her Bachelor’s degree from Tufts University. In 1979, the Gumuchian brand was created by Ms. Gumuchian, her sister, Patricia, and their mother, Anita.

Today, the trio continues to carry on the family legacy that originated over 100 years ago in Istanbul with the sales of exceptional colored stones and fancy diamond imports.

Inspired by their European lineage, they saw the need to create a refined collection in order to better serve the American market. From that vision, Gumuchian’s “Designed by Women for Women” mantra was born, setting out to capture the confidence and beauty of all women. This concept is brought to life and perfectly executed by highly-skilled master jewelers in their atelier in Manhattan, which lead to Gumuchian being awarded the “Made in NY” certification in January of 2017.

Under Myriam, Gumuchian has thrived with proven success resulting in her desire to create a collection with a worthy cause. Myriam is most proud of their latest “B” Collection, inspired by the honey bee and the dangers surrounding the declining of the species. This led to the collaboration of the collection that gives back, with a portion of the proceeds going to, a non-profit that supports home gardens and urban beekeeping. Inspired by her surroundings Myriam thrives to not only bring beauty into the world with the Gumuchian designs but also promises to help keep the world beautiful by giving back.

Myriam’s dedication and passion for the luxury jewelry industry have led her to serve on numerous industry boards, including the prestigious 24 Karat Club, Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC), Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA), Couture, Centurion and the JA Tradeshow boards. In 2006, Myriam became the first woman appointed chair of the Jewelry Information Center (JIC). In 2015 under Myriam, Gumuchian received the Corporate Award from the Women’s Jewelry Association and most recently, Myriam held the 24 Karat Club Presidential position in 2016 as only the second woman to hold the title. The commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed rewarding Gumuchian with several design awards, including prestigious Couture Awards, JCK Awards, Centurion Awards and the Armenian Jewelry Association (AJA) Award for Best International Emerging Brand of the year.
