Circle of Distinction Spotlight: Peter Engel

The American Gem Society congratulates Peter Engel, president of Fred Meyer Jewelers, as a recipient of this year’s AGS Triple Zero™ Award!
Mr. Engel joined Fred Meyer Jewelers in 1981 as a sales associate. In 1986, he became a manager then transitioned into a regional supervisor in 1993. During the acquisition of Littman Jewelers in 1998, Mr. Engel was promoted to vice president of operations on the East Coast. In 2001, he became group vice president of store operations. He was named to his current role as president in 2005, overseeing 319 stores in 31 states.
Mr. Engel is heavily involved in the jewelry industry by serving on the board of directors for Jewelers for Children (JFC), Diamond Council of America (DCA) and the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF). He is also actively involved with Jewelers of America (JA).
