Lauren Kalman Abramowitz was born in New York, and her accent can still be heard in several words, even though she has been in Arizona since 1998.
Her extensive jewelry career includes opening the Arizona locations of Tiffany & Co.®, which comprises Scottsdale and Tucson. Within the 10 years of experience with Tiffany & Co., Lauren was an award-winning and Gallop-poll-recognized employee. Tiffany & Co. supported her continued education with GIA, and she achieved her Graduate Gemologist® (GG) and Graduate Pearls diplomas in 2008.
In 2016, Lauren was among the first 100 to complete the Certified Pearl Specialist program with the Cultured Pearl Association of America. In addition, she received the Foundation for Appraisal Education scholarship. In 2019, Lauren received the Howard Ruben Educational Scholarship. In November of 2021, she achieved the status of Senior Certified Member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. She is also a senior gemologist and member of the Accredited Gemologist Association.
Since 2014, she has completed over 5,000 Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP®) compliant appraisals. These include insurance, equitable distribution, donation, estate, and Fair Market Value. Her largest appraisal was a legal settlement out of court for a theft and loss case for over five million dollars. Lauren has also recovered over $250,000.00 for her clients due to inappropriate sold prices.
Mrs. Abramowitz has obtained degrees from the Fashion Institute of Technology, The State of New York at Albany, and her Master of Science from Long Island University.
Lauren enjoys jewelry, shopping, cooking, and public speaking. She has presented at the Oklahoma AGS Conclave, the ISA conference, three consecutive NAJA conferences, and several GIA Alumni associations around the country.
Lauren offers mobile appraisal services and just finished traveling the country for Heritage Appraisers for the last nine years. Lauren regularly travels to Seattle and is willing to cover the cost of her flight for any domestic Guild speaking event.
