Home Jewelry Trade Credentials

The American Gem Society promotes the advancement of professional education within the jewelry industry to enhance consumer confidence and trust in the knowledge, business integrity, and competence of retail jewelers. There are stringent requirements for election to membership for a business and for the awarding of credentials to an individual titleholder.

Each American Gem Society member store must employ at least one credentialed associate before achieving active membership status. These titles include Registered Jeweler, Certified Gemologist, and Certified Gemologist Appraiser. In addition to these titles, the American Gem Society also offers a designation – the Certified Sales Associate.

When shopping for diamonds, gemstones, or jewelry, you can put your trust in the knowledge, experience, and integrity of a credentialed American Gem Society member. To learn more about the AGS Titles and Designations that credentialed AGS jewelers receive, click here.
