Take the next step in your career and become a Certified Gemologist® (CG). Apply for the American Gem Society (AGS) and GIA Beatrice Shipley Scholarship!

AGS and GIA created the Beatrice Shipley Scholarship to honor Beatrice Shipley, wife of AGS and GIA founder, Robert M. Shipley. She was a significant contributor to the history and development of both organizations as a business partner and operations manager.

This opportunity provides one candidate with a full scholarship to AGS education courses to earn the AGS Certified Gemologist® (CG) title and full tuition for the GIA Graduate Gemologist® (GG) program. The recipient will be selected by AGS.

Additionally, the recipient will receive complimentary registration to Conclave, September 14–17, 2026, in Orlando, FL. Hotel accommodations and travel are not included.

To complete the application, you will need to:

  • Write a personal statement discussing the importance and timeline for achieving your Graduate Gemologist® diploma and completing the American Gem Society coursework.
  • Prepare a plan that outlines your vision for creating a positive impact on the jewelry industry.

Thank you for your interest in the Beatrice Shipley Scholarship. The application period for 2026 is now closed. We will begin accepting next year’s applications in early 2027.
