In recognition of its shared history with the AGS and part of GIA’s mission, GIA will offer sponsorships for the below lab sessions to be offered at the AGS Headquarters in Las Vegas, NV.

Diamond Grading Lab
March 11-15, 2019
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day
Learn to grade diamonds using a gem microscope and jeweler’s loupe. Master the diamond grading system, discover time-saving shortcuts to determine a variety of grading factors, and learn to read a diamond grading report. Practice grading techniques.

Gem Identification Lab
March 18-22, 2019

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day
Gain confidence using a microscope, a refractometer with polarizing filter and a removable magnifying eyepiece, refractive index (RI) liquid, a polariscope, a dichroscope, a spectroscope, and a loupe. Identify natural gemstones, imitations, and synthetics. Discover effective testing procedures for colored stones now in circulation.

The American Gem Society (AGS) is a nonprofit trade association of fine jewelry professionals dedicated to setting, maintaining and promoting the highest standards of ethical conduct and professional behavior through education, accreditation, recertification of its membership, gemological standards, and gemological research.

AGS Laboratories, founded to support the AGS mission, is a nonprofit diamond grading laboratory with a mission of consumer protection. Adhering to the AGS Diamond Grading Standards, AGS Laboratories is dedicated to offering diamond grading reports that provide consistency and accuracy based on science.
