Job Summary/Objective

Responsible for supporting the organization’s financial operations by managing core accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization, with particular attention to requirements specific to a 501(c)(6) entity.

Essential Functions

  • Perform and oversee core accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, including variance analyses and supporting schedules.
  • Support the CFO in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for audits, regulatory filings, and tax return preparation in collaboration with external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting policies, GAAP, and 501(c)(6) regulations, with attention to revenue recognition and membership dues.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve internal controls and reporting accuracy.
  • Assist in monitoring cash flow and managing organizational banking activities.
  • Provide support for Board reporting and financial presentations as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper financial tracking of programs, grants, and member services.
  • Serve as a resource for accounting staff and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing finance team environment.

Other Duties

  • Assist the CFO with special financial projects, analysis, and reporting as needed.
  • Assist in preparing financial documents for board meetings, as requested.
  • Perform additional financial and administrative duties as required to support organizational goals.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or CPA eligibility preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 1 year in public accounting.
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations is strongly preferred, particularly with 501(c)(6) entities.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools (such as MS Dynamics GP, Dynamics 365 Business Central, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or equivalent).
