The Cincinnati Guild Presents
"Jade" by David C.Y. Leung

Presented in partnership with GIA Alumni Association.

David C.Y. Leung is an expert in antque jade carving and period jewelry. He is devoted to exploring the role of jade in Chinese culture and detecting the fundamental differences in jade enhancements.

Leung's presentaton will discuss:

  • Jade carving, finishing and identification including various treatments and enhancements
  • How to determine if a piece of jade is antique or more modern
  • Practical advice for retail sales of jade jewelry, carvings and pieces

This lecture will help you identify and evaluate jade quality. Be sure to bring your jade pieces and a loupe for the hands-on segment of the lecture. Leung will also have specimens available to view.

About the Speaker

Leung lives in Hawaii, and designs corporate gifts, country club sports tournament awards, and custom-made fine jewelry. He is a certified appraiser of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA), a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) and the Hawaii Jewelers Association.

AGS Laboratories, founded to support the AGS mission, is a nonprofit diamond grading laboratory with a mission of consumer protection. Adhering to the AGS Diamond Grading Standards, AGS Laboratories is dedicated to offering diamond grading reports that provide consistency and accuracy based on science.
