Samantha has worked at the De Beers Group of Companies since 1992. She has an HNC in Physics and gained the Gem Diamond Diploma from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain in 1996. She has experience in microscopy, sample preparation (lasering/polishing) and spectroscopy. She is involved in using spectroscopic techniques such as infrared absorption and photoluminescence to investigate properties of natural, synthetic and treated diamonds. This work has resulted in a number of publications in both gemmological and scientific journals. Her current role is focussed on providing technical presentations related to consumer confidence issues, instrument training and workshops both internally and for the wider diamond trade.
Samantha lives in Wallingford, England with her husband and two children.
