Ruth Batson, RJ
Ruth Batson is the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the American Gem Society (AGS) and AGS Laboratories, where she manages the day-to-day operations and strategic decisions of both organizations. Having been with the AGS since 1993, Ms. Batson was a strong force in the design and construction of the Robert M. Shipley complex and was instrumental in the development of the American Gem Society Laboratories.
Ms. Batson earned her degree in Business and Accounting from the University of Phoenix and has earned the AGS title of Registered Jeweler. She is a member of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee Board, Women’s Jewelry Association Board, the JCK Show Advisory Board, and is a member of the Executive Committee for the Responsible Jewellery Council. She is the current Chair of the Jewelers for Children Board. Her most recent achievements include the Excellence in Service award from the Women’s Jewelry Association (2010), the Jewelers for Children Facets of Hope honoree (2012) and the Doyenne of the Year Award (2013) from the Indian Diamond & Colorstone Association. In 2012 and 2013, JCK Magazine included Ms. Batson in their list of the industry’s most powerful leaders.
