Debbie Hiss

Debbie has been involved with all aspects of sales and product training throughout her career. For over 35 years, she has been developing and delivering training programs, negotiating and planning training events, and writing informative articles for product education. Debbie’s success has led her to speak at industry events and trade association functions around the country and abroad.

Debbie started her training career as an instructor at the Gemological Institute of America. As a Graduate Gemologist, she provided hands-on training to hundreds of students on colored gemstones and pearls, as well as sales techniques. She also served as the Manager of Association Training for the Institute, negotiating and maintaining contracts for annual training events at external functions including trade shows and state conventions.

Early in her career, Debbie worked for Sarah Leonard Jewelers, an independent AGS fine jewelry retailer in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Currently, Debbie is consulting with a number of companies and organizations, including the American Gem Society and Gemfields. She has held the position of Director of Sales Training at Lazare Kaplan International and was a global trainer for Hearts On Fire. Additionally, she consulted with Forevermark—part of the DeBeers group of companies—as a training specialist. She also created a product and sales training program for HRA/Crossworks, the premier sightholder in Canada.
