Five Question Spotlight

Steve Pronko Diamonds has been a part of the Dickson City community since 1940. We wanted to you to get to know their AGS Certified Gemologist (CG) Nick Pronko a bit better, as well as the store, so he kindly responded to our Five Question Spotlight.

When did you first realize you were passionate about jewelry?

As a third generation jeweler, I would say jewelry always caught my eye. When I began my career in 2005, that is when I started appreciating diamonds and fine jewelry, that is when my real passion began.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

The best part of the job is when I get to deliver an engagement ring to a customer whose grandfather purchased his ring off of my grandfather. That really hits home and means we are doing things right.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your career?

The highlight of my career is two-fold. This year I have assumed full operations of our business as my father is retiring and also earned my CGA this past Conclave.

What do you think your customers think of you as a jewelry professional?

Besides going above and beyond for our customers every time, whether it is a $25 Pandora bead or a $25,000 diamond ring, customers come to us because we are honest. We take the time to educate everyone when it comes to purchasing jewelry. It is a great feeling when a customer understands what we are showing them, and an even greater feeling when they thank you. We should be thanking them and they take the time to thank us. That means we did our job.

What are your hobbies?

Right now I am passionate about my family. My wife Alyse and I are busy with our son Alexander (2.5 years) and our daughter Olyvia (10 months). They are keeping us very busy. I spend most of my down time with my family.
