Frequently Asked Questions for the Recert Exam:

What is my member number?

            This number can be found on the mailing label of your Recert Exam materials.  If you no longer have this envelope, AGS can look in the database and provide the number to you.  You will need your member number in order to submit your exam online.  If submitting the exam by mail, you do not need your member number; your correct name will enable us to find your record.

 

I am having trouble logging on to the website and exam.  What should I do?

            Contact AGS – Natalie, extension 1011.

 

Why am I getting the Recert Exam? I just earned my title last month.

             If you received your title after January 1, 2007, you are not required to take the exam.

 

How can I be exempt from taking the Recert Exam?

            If you are an active titleholder – working in the store – there are no longer exemptions for the Recert.  If you have retired or experienced a hardship that prevents you from completing the exam on time, please contact Melissa, extension 1034. 

 

How can I become a Vintage Member?

            Vintage status can be selected if the member has been an active member of the AGS for a minimum of 20 years, is 55 years old or older, and fully retired from the jewelry industry.

 

How can I become an Emeritus Member?

            Emeritus status is an award and the titleholder is nominated and voted on by the Board.  In addition, he or she must have been active in the AGS for a minimum of 30 years, served on the Board and a Committee and received other industry recognition.

 

I am an Affiliate.  How many questions must I submit? 

            All Affiliates must submit answers for 45 questions unless your previous title was CGA – then you must submit answers for all 50 questions.

 

As an Affiliate, will I receive a Certificate of Accreditation?

            No, since the affiliate is unable to advertise his or her affiliation with the American Gem Society, only our database records will show that this requirement has been met.
