Update from American Gem Trade Association: Tucson 2018 and Beyond

In partnership with GIA Alumni Chapter.

Join AGTA Membership and Education Manager, David Baker, for an interesting perspective on the American Gem Trade Association, past, present and future, including insights and highlights of AGTA Spectrum Awards, along with a behind-the-scenes look!

We will hold a brief chapter meeting before the talk.

Baker, a noted public speaker and expert author on laser sawing of diamond crystals, operated a American Gem Society custom jewelry store for 25 years and was a colored gemstone wholesaler to the trade for 35 years, during which he traveled internationally for 20 years. He is a gemstone and jewelry appraiser in Houston and an appraiser and consultant for the Asset Forfeiture department of the U.S. Marshal Service.

Baker is also the founding president of the GIA Alumni Association’s Ohio/Indiana Chapter and a lifetime member of the GIA Alumni Association.

The American Gem Society (AGS) is a nonprofit trade association of fine jewelry professionals dedicated to setting, maintaining and promoting the highest standards of ethical conduct and professional behavior through education, accreditation, recertification of its membership, gemological standards, and gemological research.

The Society is committed to providing educational products to inform and protect the consumer and to contributing to the betterment of the trade by creating industry standards to protect the jewelry-buying public and the fine jewelry industry as a whole.

AGS Laboratories, founded to support the AGS mission, is a nonprofit diamond grading laboratory with a mission of consumer protection. Adhering to the AGS Diamond Grading Standards, AGS Laboratories is dedicated to offering diamond grading reports that provide consistency and accuracy based on science.
